Class A CDL Tractor-Trailer Driver – San Luis Obispo, CA

Drive the Central Coast. Haul the Goods. Bank the Miles.

Based out of the scenic heart of California’s Central Coast, this dedicated regional role is built for drivers who value home time, modern equipment, and consistent freight. You will run primary corridors linking San Luis Obispo to major distribution hubs, including the I-5 corridor between the Grapevine and Sacramento, the 101 corridor through the Salinas Valley to the Bay Area, and select runs east toward Bakersfield and the Central Valley. This is not a coast-to-coast position. This is a lane you can learn, master, and own.

Position Snapshot

  • Equipment: Late-model fleet, all tractors under 18 months old. Automatic transmissions, APUs, inverted air-ride suspension, and full aerodynamic packages. You will not be fighting a 10-speed from 2009.
  • Freight Profile: Temperature-controlled and dry van. Mostly drop-and-hook with less than 15% live unloads. No touch freight unless you choose it.
  • Home Time: 2–3 nights out per week. Most weeks include a 34-hour reset at home in San Luis Obispo County or wherever you park your personal vehicle in the region.
  • Weekly Scale: Target weekly earnings sit in the $1,550 to $1,750 range, with top performers consistently hitting the $1,750 ceiling through a combination of mileage, stops, and safety bonuses. Pay is per mile plus stop pay and a quarterly safety performance bonus.

What You Must Bring to the Yard

  • A minimum of 3 months of verifiable Class A CDL tractor-trailer experience. We do not train. We do not sponsor. You must have real, on-road, over-the-road experience in a commercial tractor-trailer.
  • A valid Class A CDL with no automatic restriction. If your license says “E” or “L” restriction, you are not eligible for this fleet.
  • A clean safety gate that we verify through your DAC, MVR, and PSP report:
    • No more than 1 preventable accident in the last 2 years, regardless of fault classification.
    • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 2 years. Speeding, following too close, and failure to obey traffic control devices all count.
    • Zero DUIs or any alcohol-related driving offenses in the last 5 years. Zero means zero.
    • No reckless driving, hit-and-run, or driving on a suspended license in the last 3 years.
  • At least 21 years of age and a stable work history. We look for drivers who stay, not drivers who bounce.
