Job Description:
CDL-A OTR Truck Driver – Charlotte, NC
Drive Further. Earn Stronger. Run Smarter.
Based out of Charlotte, NC, this OTR position keeps you moving through the Southeast, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic corridors. You will run consistent freight lanes connecting Charlotte to Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Chicago, and Baltimore, with an emphasis on live unloads and drop-and-hook freight. No forced dispatch into the Northeast, and we keep you rolling with predictable weekly home time.
Position Overview
We are seeking experienced Class A CDL tractor-trailer drivers for a full-time over-the-road (OTR) role. You will operate a late-model fleet, average 2,400 to 2,700 miles per week, and maintain a strong weekly pay scale. This is a solo driving position with a clear focus on safety, reliability, and consistent freight volume.
Minimum Qualification Standards
- Minimum of 3 months verifiable Class A CDL tractor-trailer experience within the last 3 years.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (must be currently held, not expired or suspended).
- No more than 1 preventable accident (any type) within the last 2 years.
- No more than 2 moving violations (excluding parking) within the last 2 years.
- Zero DUIs, DWIs, or any drug or alcohol-related convictions within the last 5 years.
- No positive drug or alcohol test results in your FMCSA clearinghouse record.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to communicate with dispatch, customers, and law enforcement.
- Must pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background check.
What We Offer
- Pay Scale: Up to $1,750 per week ceiling, based on experience and performance. Average weekly earnings between $1,450 and $1,750.
- Miles: 2,400 – 2,700+ miles per week with consistent, repeatable freight.
- Late-Model Fleet: All trucks are 2023 models or newer, under 18 months old. Automatic transmissions, APUs, and in-cab Wi-Fi included.
- Health Blueprint: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans starting as low as $45 per week for single coverage. Life insurance, short-term disability, and 401(k) with company match after 90 days.
- Pet and Rider Policy: Bring your dog or a passenger after 30 days. Pets and riders are welcome on the road with you, subject to standard safety and liability paperwork.
- Home Time: 2 to 3 days of home time every 2 to 3 weeks, with options for regional flexibility after 6 months.
Local Corridors and Typical Routes
You will primarily operate along the I-85, I-77, and I-40 corridors out of Charlotte, running into the Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, and Ohio. Frequent freight lanes include Charlotte to Atlanta, Charlotte to Memphis, and Charlotte to Chicago. Expect a mix of drop-and-hook, live unload, and occasional tarping on dedicated flatbed lanes (tarp pay extra). No NYC, no Canada, and no extended Northeast runs.
Safety Gate Requirements
We enforce strict safety gates to protect you and the motoring public. In addition to the qualifications listed above, you must maintain a clean MVR and a current DOT medical card. Any preventable accident or moving violation during employment will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, but a pattern of unsafe behavior is grounds for termination. We use a camera-based safety system, and all drivers must complete a 2-day orientation at our Charlotte terminal.
